The vision for Lichfield Lands, Longview Trust and Hillview Trust from their establishment has been to grow the New Zealand church through the profits that they make. They have been investing profits from their farming practices into Christian work and serving their local communities since 1951. It is this vision that has allowed the establishment of these three scholarships in the hope that Christian leaders may be developed, trained and released for the building up of God's kingdom in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
The heart of each of these trusts is to see:
The right people… These are leaders who have the scriptural character qualities of godly leaders. They will place a very high value on the Bible, the cross, conversion and serving society. They’ll be able to teach the Bible, shepherd, serve, and disciple.
Studying in the right institutions… These training institutions will prepare our leaders for a multicultural Aotearoa New Zealand. They will establish our leaders in the Scriptures, they will place a significant emphasis on Bible teaching and ministry, and they will help our leaders disciple other leaders in the home, church and marketplace.
And heading into the right places… We want to support the people we’ve invested into, to be placed in the right ministry context for them, for us as a network of churches and ultimately for the growth of the gospel in New Zealand.
"Jesus once said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'. In our trusts, we have been privileged to see the truth of this statement and to see it outworked over decades."
Stuart Bay (Member of Lichfield Lands, Trustee for Longview Trust and Chairman of Hillview Trust).
